Engineering-first setup
Read-only credentials, validation on connect, KMS envelope encryption, and a 90-day backfill before the first weekly review.
AWS, GCP, and DigitalOcean project spend for small teams that are too multi-cloud for native dashboards and too early for enterprise FinOps.
Tovin.io is a cloud cost ledger for engineering-led teams running AWS, Google Cloud, and DigitalOcean. The product is small on purpose: connect read-only billing credentials, map spend to projects with tag, account, and regex rules, surface unallocated cost without hiding it, and review the deltas every week. DigitalOcean is a first-class cloud, not an afterthought, and the marketing plan is intentionally free — earned, owned, and organic only.

DigitalOcean is a wedge here, not an afterthought. Agencies and indie SaaS teams should not need a spreadsheet to read a DO bill.
Tags first, then account rules, then ReDoS-guarded regex, with a dry-run preview. Formal chargeback is a later question.
All distribution is earned, owned, or organic. Compounding assets — articles, glossary, comparisons, newsletter, community — over ad spend.
Tovin.io's audience is engineering-led teams that have outgrown provider-native dashboards but are not buying an enterprise FinOps platform. The market has heavy governance suites and single-cloud reports; what is missing is a small-team, multi-cloud, engineer-owned ledger that includes DigitalOcean and treats unallocated spend as a first-class column.
The wedge is specific on purpose. We are not building the enterprise FinOps platform; we are building the tool the team would otherwise build for themselves over three quarters. The marketing plan compounds in earned, owned, and shared channels — content, glossary, comparisons, build-in-public, and newsletter — because the audience is technical, evaluates by reading, and converts on trust.
